Small Wonders Christian Preschool

Who are we?
Small Wonders Christian Preschool is a nonprofit, parent-participation preschool and a ministry of Redeemer Covenant Church of Orangevale designed for three and four year olds. We provide a Christian atmosphere for a child’s spiritual, social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.  We believe that each child is a unique gift from God to be treasured and taught as such. Small Wonders is an extension of Redeemer Covenant Church which strives to minister to children and their families and create a positive relationship between the church and the community.

What do we offer?
Small Wonders Christian Preschool provides a developmentally appropriate, hands-on curriculum which addresses the needs of each child. The classroom and program are designed for active exploration of creative materials and activities including music, art, science, colors, letters, shapes, numbers, dramatic play, and Bible stories. We understand this may be your child’s first regular group experience with children his or her own age and we want to make this transition enjoyable and positive.

Our program is designed to allow children to choose their own activities and participate in group learning.  This fosters independence as well as promoting socialization skills such as sharing, cooperation and turn-taking. Monthly chapel times are scheduled for all classes.  Chapel times include prayer, songs and Bible stories.

When is the school year?
The school year begins the Tuesday after Labor Day and concludes at the end of May.

Holidays follow the San Juan Unified School District Calendar.

Who is eligible?

Small Wonders Christian Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, color or national origin. To enroll, a child must be two years and nine months by September 1st and toilet trained. Each child must be physically and emotionally ready for the type of group experience preschool has to offer.

3-year-olds meet Tuesday/Thursday Mornings or Afternoons
4-year-olds meet Monday/Wednesday/Friday Mornings or Afternoons

Morning Class: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon Class: 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Transition to Kindergarten meets Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

How do you enroll your child?
Contact the Preschool Director, Cathy Powell, at the preschool office: 988-0998 for the necessary forms to fill out. Upon payment of the Registration fee, your child will be enrolled in classes.

How much will it cost?

Annual Registration Fee: $85

Tues./Thurs.: $155 per month

Mon./Wed./Fri.: $185 per month

Transition to Kindergarten:  $305 per month

Background Check Fee:  $15

What does "parent-participation" mean?
An adult representing each child will be expected to work in the classroom approximately 2 times a month (usually less for the 3-year-old class). On approximately half the working days, parents are asked to provide snack for the class. Parents are also invited to drive on field trips, volunteer for a preschool board position and help in the classroom with special days and projects.
